Eyelash Extensions FAQs

What are eyelash extensions? Eyelash extensions are individual, semi-permanent lashes of varying lengths, thicknesses, curvatures, and colors designed to attach to your own natural lashes to create longer, thicker, fuller, and curlier eyelashes. The application is customized to meet your specific needs and style.

Are eyelash extensions for me? Eyelash extensions are the hottest trend in the beauty industry. They are practical and convenient, instantly giving you sexier, younger, and refreshed-looking eyes. The look and feel are completely natural-looking and real. Experience the joy of waking up in the morning looking “done,” as you will no longer need to curl and apply coats of mascara.

What are eyelash extensions made of? Eyelash extensions are made of synthetic silk and synthetic mink. They are soft, lush fibers with a high gloss finish, thicker at the base, and taper to a fine point. We carry various lengths, thicknesses, curls, colors, and styles to provide each woman with a unique and realistic look.

Are eyelash extensions safe? Eyelash extensions will not harm or cause damage to your natural lashes as they are individually applied to your natural lashes using a specially formulated bonding material. The bonding material used is a quality adhesive that contains ultra-low quantities of formaldehyde which, at ultra-low levels, is considered negligible and non-harmful. Most eyelash extension adhesives contain cyanoacrylate for fast bonding and carbon black for the dark mascara-like color. Extensions are applied about 1mm away from your skin to follow the growth and bloom of your own lashes. They require skill and precision and should only be applied by a certified and trained eyelash professional.

How long do eyelash extensions last? Your natural eyelashes undergo a natural growth cycle, predetermined by genes and health factors, averaging a “lash life” of 60 to 100 days with three growth phases. Extensions are applied to lashes in the middle growth phase to support their length and weight, and properly applied and cared for, eyelash extensions can last between 3 to 5 weeks.

How do I know if I can wear eyelash extensions? Eyelash extensions are generally suitable for anyone, but they are not recommended if you frequently rub your eyes due to allergies, are allergic to adhesives or latex, have a condition affecting hair growth, are undergoing medical treatments like chemotherapy, or are pregnant or have recently had surgery without doctor’s approval.

How often should I get touch-ups? To maintain your eyelash extensions, touch-ups are recommended every 2-4 weeks to keep your lashes looking full and beautiful.

How do I prepare for the service? You should have a consultation prior to your first appointment and complete a client intake and consent form. On the day of your appointment, remove all eye makeup with a mild, oil-free cleanser, remove contact lenses, and refrain from curling your lashes.

How do I care for my eyelash extensions? Proper care and maintenance will maximize the life of your lash extensions. Avoid getting your lashes wet for the first 6 hours, stay away from steamy environments for the first 24 hours, do not rub, pull, or pick at your lashes, use a small Q-tip to clean around your eyes when removing makeup, and avoid oil-based products near your eyes.

Can mascara be used with eyelash extensions? Mascara is not needed as extensions give the look of wearing it. If used, it should be water-based and applied from the middle to the tip of the lashes, avoiding the root area.

How do you remove eyelash extensions? Do not attempt to remove the extensions yourself to avoid damaging your natural lashes. Professional removal is recommended. Otherwise, they will gradually fall out over about two months.

Can I use eyelash growth products with my extensions? Natural lash growth products with peptides are safe to use and will not affect the longevity of your extensions. However, growth products containing steroids can alter the natural lash composition and accelerate their growth cycle.
